The Demonstration Tapes - Second Amendment - LP

Lars, Pedro, and Fredrik of The Demonstration Tapes previously played together in the band Sister Sonny. A few years ago, they realized that they were all writing songs centered around different American states. That sparked the idea to write and release one song for every U.S. state.

With the upcoming anniversary of American independence just a few years off, they had a plan. The debut album First Amendment was released in 2025, featuring 14 tracks covering 14 states. Now, in the 2026 anniversary year, comes the next instalment. 

The Demonstration Tapes consists of seasoned musicians with their feet planted firmly in music history. We grew up in an era where American culture—music, film, literature—served as a guiding light. Throughout our lives, our relationship with the US has been marked by friction, yet equally driven by respect, curiosity, and love. As the country celebrates 250 years of independence in 2026, we offer our nod to the celebration with a healthy dose of ambivalence.
