Vestamaran’s Second Album: A Touch of Class

The wait is over – Vestamaran’s second album, A Touch of Class, has arrived! Following the success of their critically acclaimed 2021 debut, Bungalow Rex, the band returns with a fresh collection of tracks that showcase their ever-evolving sound.

A Unique Recording Journey

In a departure from their previous maritime-inspired aesthetic, the album was recorded entirely in the eastern part of the country as part of a bold experiment. The band members ventured far from their familiar coastal surroundings to explore new creative territory. Much of the recording took place at Ole Petter Andreassen’s renowned Caliban Studio in Nord-Odal, a rural setting teeming with pigs and rustic charm. Additional sessions were held at Propeller Recordings in Oslo, ensuring a diverse sonic palette.

Expanding Musical Horizons

  • A Touch of Class* is a testament to Vestamaran’s ability to blend a variety of genres seamlessly. The album opens with the energetic rock anthem “Storyteller” and transitions into the country-inspired “Wallets,” featuring pedal steel instrumentation. Tracks like “Bow Down” showcase a laidback indie-pop vibe, while “How to Build a Bar” takes a dive into progressive rock.

Every member contributed to the songwriting process, fostering a collaborative and selfless spirit that permeates the album. The collective effort shines through in every note and lyric, making A Touch of Class a cohesive and captivating experience.

Artistic Vision and Production

The album’s cover art, created by cult painter Lars M, adds a visual dimension to the music’s eclectic spirit. Recording and engineering were handled by Jøran Normann at Caliban Studio, with production credits shared between Normann and the band. Ole Petter Andreassen lent his expertise as a special co-producer, while Roar Nilsen contributed to the recording and production of “Denmark” and “Wallets” at Propeller Recordings in Oslo. Overdubs were completed at the World’s Most Dangerous Studio in Askøy under the guidance of Kjell Arne. The album was mixed by Øystein Frantzvåg, ensuring a polished final product.
