Panzerpappa Releases New Concept Album Landsbysladder
Twenty-five years after their first recording, Norwegian avant-prog band Panzerpappa has released their very first concept album. Landsbysladder came out on August 22, 2025, featuring seven instrumental tracks exploring themes of gossip, relationships, and small-town drama — all without a single word.
The album blends melodic passages with sudden rhythmic and harmonic twists, mirroring the way rumors spread and shift moods in a close-knit community. Musical motifs from earlier releases reappear, including in Landsbyminiatyr, which revives the original theme from the band’s 2000 debut.
The album also features an impressive lineup of guest musicians, including folk artist Rannveig Djønne on diatonic accordion, jazz luminary Ståle Storløkken on synthesizers, and percussionist Håkon Stene.
Landsbysladder is available on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms worldwide.
Glutton Returns with Skiva heter Vishnu! — Chaos, Confidence, and Zero Vocals
Five years after their last release, the Oslo-based trio Glutton is back — and this time, they’ve gone completely off the rails in the best possible way. Their upcoming album, Skiva heter Vishnu!, drops on September 12, 2025, promising an instrumental punk-jazz-prog concoction nobody asked for but everyone absolutely deserves.
Vocals? Forget it. Communication? Overrated. Glutton has stripped away every hint of lyrical handholding, letting the music speak in its own unhinged dialect. Tracks like Hallux Valgus, Ørkensur, and Rematusenogennatt deliver a heady mix of absurd seriousness and delightfully misplaced confidence, as if the band is daring you to make sense of it all while grinning behind the amps.
Before the full album lands, three singles will be unleashed digitally — with Hallux Valgus leading the charge, setting the tone for an album that promises to be as perplexing as it is exhilarating.
Prepare accordingly: Skiva heter Vishnu! isn’t just an album. It’s a dare, a wink, and a sledgehammer wrapped in one glorious instrumental package.

Blue Starling Debuts with Let You Go — Sweet Melodies, Dark Undercurrents
From Askøy, just outside Bergen, comes Blue Starling, a new duo blending the warmth of folk-pop with the storytelling soul of Americana. Their debut single, Let You Go, recalls the harmonic beauty of First Aid Kit and The Secret Sisters, wrapping rich vocal layers around a deceptively light melody.
But beneath the sweetness lies a darker tale: a love so intense it teeters on obsession, where manipulation and control replace romance — and where letting go becomes the hardest part.
The duo — Pia Ericsson Nilsen (vocals) and Marte Hagebø (vocals, guitar) — enlisted a small army of local talent for the track, including Endre Aasebø on guitars and bass, Harald Frode Unneland on drums and percussion, and Roger Berland on lap steel. Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Einar Sogstad, the single carries both polish and raw emotion, setting the stage for whatever Blue Starling has planned next.
MesaVerde Drops New Single “End Credits Insight”
Oslo-based quartet MesaVerde has released their second single of the summer, End Credits Insight, now available on all streaming platforms via Apollon Records.
Blending dissonance with smooth harmonies, the track tells the story of a relationship with a reluctant prophet, capturing the contrasting perspectives of admirer and admired.
Since 2015, MesaVerde has carved out a unique space at the crossroads of prog rock and pop, with previous albums KY (2022) and All is Well (2024) showcasing their love for long, experimental studio sessions. The band features Jørgen Apeness, Lars Fremmerlid, Henrik Schmidt, and Jonas Lundekvam — all seasoned musicians from Norway’s vibrant music scene.
